Welcome to my blog!

My name is Naomi Grandison and I’m 20 years old. I play basketball for Malone University in Canton, OH, and I am a Communications major. My dad is a former NBA player who currently runs RG Basketball Academy in Cincinnati. My mom is a personal fitness trainer. I have four siblings — two older and two younger — and all of us are vegan.

(For those who don’t know, to be vegan means you don’t eat animal products like meat or dairy, while being vegetarian just means you don’t eat meat)

I grew up as a vegetarian, so I don’t remember ever tasting meat. But I didn’t become a vegan until about 7th or 8th grade.

As an athlete, I know what it’s like to be pressured in a number of different ways when it comes to taking care of your body.

Because of my thin frame, people have told me to drink protein shakes, take supplements, eat hummus — one of my high school coaches even told me to eat a whole jar of peanut butter a day.

If you’re a vegan, I want to let you know that you are not alone in this journey. If you are trying to find a way to improve your health and/or athletic performance, I want you to know that the vegan diet works, and it works well. I am not perfect and I do not pretend to know everything, but I want to share what I do know while also sharing this constant journey with you. Knowledge is power! Let’s learn together 🙂

P.S. For the athletes out there, don’t let my skinny arms fool you. Serena Williams is a vegan too.
